Zack "Zeke" Waldner, age 74, of Huron, died Friday, March 10, 2017, at his home. His funeral service was held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, March 15th at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Broadland Cemetery at a later date.
Zacharias Zack "Zeke" Waldner was born March 17, 1942, to David and Sarah (Kleinsasser) Waldner at Elie, Manitoba, Canada. He moved with his family to the United States as a child. At 15 years old, Zack started working for area farmers.
Zeke served in the Army National Guard for almost seven years from 1964 to 1970.
On April 7, 1964, Zeke married Marline Welty-Rycraft in Pipestone, Minnesota. They made their home at Bonilla, South Dakota, where Zeke achieved his dream of owning a dairy farm. He sold the farm after a tornado went through the area in 2000. Zeke then worked for Asphalt Paving and Materials Company until his retirement in 2011.
Zeke spent many hours enjoying his favorite pastime trapping. He also enjoyed playing cards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and one brother.
His is survived by his wife, Marline of Huron; three sons, Jeff Waldner of Sioux Falls, Jay Waldner of Huron and Kris (Julie) Waldner of Huron; two granddaughters, Jessica Waldner and Jordan Waldner, both of Brookings; one brother, Mike (Rebecca) Waldner of Miller; one sister, Susie Waldner of Sioux Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
