William Verhelst, age 56, of Huron, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019, at his home. His memorial service was held at 1:00 PM, Friday, November 22nd at the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church.

William Joseph Verhelst was born on June 27, 1963, to George and Alice (Loeschke) Verhelst at Huron. He grew up on the Verhelst family farm and graduated Huron High School.

Bill was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church until his passing.

For 40 years, Bill farmed on the family farm with his two brothers. He enjoyed watching PBR bull bashes. The highlight of Bill's years were the times he spent during elk hunting season.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Darlene Verhelst; one brother, George David Verhelst; and one brother-in-law, George Boomsma.

Grateful for having shared his life are his two brothers, Edward Verhelst and Robert Verhelst, both of Huron; three sisters, Patricia (Danny) Oswald, Phyllis Boomsma and Geraldine Verhelst, all of Huron; and many nieces and nephews.
