Walter R. "Bob" Mueller, age 90, of Huron and formerly of Wolsey, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at SunQuest Health Care Center. His funeral service was at 11 AM, Saturday, January 10th at the First Presbyterian Church at Huron with the Rev. Andrew Crandall, officiating. Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors by the Huron Veterans Council.
Walter Robert Mueller was born June 5, 1924, to Walter A. and Fern V. (Swarm) Mueller at Huron. Bob grew up in Huron and graduated from HuronHigh School. On July 15, 1943, Bob joined the United States Navy serving during World War II as an aviation machinist. He was honorably discharged on May 18, 1946.
Bob worked in the Chicago area as a machinist for many shops and was machine shop supervisor for Rusnok Tool Works for thirteen years. He also worked in Florida. In 1981, Bob moved to Huron. On December 31, 1981, he married Dorothy M. (Houck) Petersen. They made their home in Wolsey.
On September 13, 2007, he married Peggy (Sweet) Lindblad at Huron.
Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Huron, HuronSeniorCenter, Hospice and RSVP Volunteers, and the Wolsey American Legion. He enjoyed camping with Dorothy and tinkering around the house.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dorothy on March 28, 2006; one brother, Arthur Mueller; one son-in-law, Bill Zilverberg; one granddaughter, Ashley Joslyn; and two great-grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Peggy of Huron; four sons, Vernon (Joy) Petersen of Huron, Ken (Debbie) Lindblad of Huron, Scott (Daisy) Lindblad of Suffolk, Virginia and Kerry (Wendy) Lindblad of Rapid City; two daughters, Jeanne Zilverberg of Huron and Colleen (Nick) Joslyn of Canton; fourteen grandchildren, Curt Dennis, Cheryl Brotherton, Chris Petersen, Carey Dennis, Cheri (Doug) Bjorke, Joe (Jamie) Zilverberg, Tara Dunnick, Amber Harris, Bristy Ball, Casey Lindblad, Bobbi Jo Drayer, Teresa Lindblad and Tyler and Zachary Joslyn; nineteen great-grandchildren, Macey and Carter Brotherton, Cameron Petersen, Tori, Jessica, Shelby and Donika Bjorke, Gavin, Jackson and Hannah Zilverberg, Tannar and Taitum Dunnick, Paige, Caleb and Christian Drayer, Tristan Goff, Julian Lindblad, Peyson Hash and Emmett Joslyn; three great-great-grandchildren, Phillip Bjorke and Bentley and Amara Petersen; one sister, Gloria E. (George) Hoyt of Omaha, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews.
