Violet Tschetter, age 89, of Huron, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024, at her home.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM, Thursday, October 17, at Kuhler Funeral Home. Her service will be live-streamed. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
Violet Frances Gross was born March 31, 1935, to Rhinehart and Rebecca (Walter) Gross at Hitchcock, South Dakota. She graduated from Huron High School and continued her education at Huron College where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Teaching. Vi later continued her education at South Dakota State University where she earned a Master's Degree in Teaching.
On June 1, 1955, Vi married Clifford P. Tschetter at Bethel Church. They made their home in Huron. Vi was a teacher for the Huron Public Schools for many years.
She was a member of Living Hope Alliance Church, Ladies Missionary Society and Huron Education Association. Vi enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, playing dominos and card games.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cliff on January 31, 2015; one son, Monte Tschetter on March 27, 2017; three sisters, Elma (Clarence) Bush and Rose (Clarence) Wipf and Esther (Jonas) Tschetter, an infant brother, Milton Gross; two brothers-in-law, Leonard Hofer and Eldon Schmeichel; and one great-nephew, Dustin Tschetter.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her one son, Randy (Lori) Tschetter of Lennox; one grandson, Austin Tschetter of Lennox; one sister, Lila Lee Hofer of Huron; many nieces and nephews and their families; and special friends, Bob Jacobsen of Sioux Falls, Darrel and Flo Semmler, Florence Semmler and Dorothy Dennis all of Mitchell.
