IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vincent P.
Snyder
January 18, 1944 – November 10, 2019
Vincent P. Snyder, age 75, (better known as Moonie) of Deadwood, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019, at the VA Black Hills Health Care Center at Ft. Meade, South Dakota. His funeral mass was celebrated at 10:00 AM S aturday, November 30th at St. Ann's Catholic Church at Miller. Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery at Wessington.
Vincent P. Snyder "Moonie" was born in Wessington, South Dakota, in 1944, to Francis R. and Frances A. Snyder, the youngest of four boys. He attended high school at Wessington High, graduating in 1962. Moonie played basketball and football; however, he was most proud of holding the Wessington High School record for shot put. There is proof of this record still today, as it resides in the Wessington Auditorium – and that record will be forever held because Wessington High School no longer exists!
Moonie joined the United States Navy after graduation and served from 1963 to 1967, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal. Moonie called Deadwood his home the last 27 years of his life and worked as a poker dealer. He enjoyed playing poker and participating in slot tournaments.
He is survived by his daughter, Shawn Haller and her husband Shaun; and three granddaughters, Olivia, Julia and Sara, all from Lincoln, Nebraska; and three brothers, Michael and Pat Snyder of Mesquite, Texas, Charlie and Janelle Snyder of Apple Valley, Minnesota and Ken Snyder of 29 Palms, California.
