Verlyn H. Eilertson passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, November 7, 2021, in Huron, SD at the age of 88.

A memorial visitation for Verlyn was held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, November 11, with a time of sharing starting at 6:30 PM at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD at a later date.

Verlyn Henry Eilertson was born on October 13, 1933, to Albert and Anna (Rumm) Eilertson near Coleman, where he grew up and attended school. In 1952 he came to Huron, SD and worked for Armours, Co. Verlyn served in the US Army February 2, 1955, to February 2, 1957, and was honorably discharged. On June 1, 1957, Verlyn married Joy Grabin at American Lutheran Church in Huron, SD.

After retiring from over 30 years at Armours Co., he established his own business; V&J Stump Removal Service from June 1985 to June 2018.

Grateful for having shared in Verlyn's life is his wife, Joy (Grabin) Eilertson of 64 years; sons, Rocky (Cindy) Eilertson of Cedar Park, TX, Todd (Layne) Eilertson of Huron, SD, Troy (Karen) Eilertson of Rapid City, SD; brother, Eldon (Beverly) Eilertson of Brookings, SD; sister, Jeananne Kock of Cowiche, WA; six grandchildren, Andrea Eilertson of Kentucky, Erika (Hector) Eilertson Zavala of Texas, Jaylee (Michael) Mathis of Texas, Jordyn (Jamar) Eilertson of New Mexico, Apryl (Chad) Eilertson Barth of South Dakota, Carsyn Eilertson of South Dakota; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert (Anna) Eilertson; father and mother in-law, Jay (Beulah) Grabin; and one brother, Don Eilertson.
