Theodore William "T.W."  McFarling, age 94, of Huron, passed away Monday, March 25, 2024, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.

His graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, April 5, 2024 at the Wolsey Cemetery.

Theodore William McFarling was born on April 29, 1929, in Huron, SD to Cyrus Asa and Olive (Taylor) McFarling. T.W. attended school and graduated from Huron High School in 1948. He then attended South Dakota State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics. Ted also attended the University of Nebraska in Omaha where he received his Master's Degree. Ted served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged on January 17, 1953.

Ted worked as an engineer for Western Electric, Winnebago, and Boeing. Ted then entered into the education field as a teacher and principal.

Ted married Gay Yvonne Pasco on April 3, 1958, in Omaha, NE. After their marriage, the couple lived in various places before moving to the family farm near Wolsey, SD.  In 2013, Ted and Gay moved to Huron, SD.

Ted enjoyed model railroading. He also served in the South Dakota State Legislature from 1955 to 1956.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Cyrus Asa and Olive McFarling; his wife, Gay Yvonne in 2022; four brothers, Louis, James, Calvin and Robert McFarling; and two sisters, Viola May Benthin and Vera Jeanne Lange.

Grateful for having shared in Ted's life; are his two sons, Jon McFarling and Barry McFarling, both of Huron; a brother, George (Jeanette) McFarling and a sister, Vivian Lowe, both of Gretna, NE; and several nieces and nephews.
