Sylvia Struck, age 79, of Wolsey, died Monday, November 7, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Society in Miller. Her funeral was held at 10:30 AM, Friday, November 11th, at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Wolsey with burial at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Sylvia was born on April 9, 1937, at Watertown to Lee Roy and Bessie (Bowles) Spooner. She grew up at Watertown and graduated from high school there. She then went to Sioux Falls College and became a teacher. She taught school in Huron. She was a member of the Wolsey School Board for many years.
On June 19, 1960, Sylvia married Duane Struck at the First Baptist Church in Watertown. They were married for 30 years and raised three children.
She was also a member of the Wolsey American Legion Axillary, the BYY's Extension Club, St. John's Lutheran Church until she transferred her membership to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing Pinochle, the piano and sewing, as well as spending time with her family. She was a member of the LWML.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Mildred; her brother and his wife, Lee and Marvie Spooner, her sister and her husband, Mildred and Paul Mors, one sister-in-law, Carol Spooner; and two nephews.
Survivors include her children, David (Brenda) Struck of Wolsey, Rebecca (Mike) Trask of Rogers, Minnesota, and Diane (Brad) Hennings of Frisco, Texas; five grandchildren, Brian Hennings, Brady Struck, Andrew and Jake Trask and Maycee Guyer; and three brothers, Dean (Pam) Spooner of Watertown, Keith (Betty) Spooner of Concord, California and Dale (Donna) Spooner of Lancaster, California.
