Corda S. Wiedel, age 68, of Huron, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2025, at her home under hospice care.
Her memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 27, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.
Her visitation with family present will be held from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, Friday, December 26, at the Kuhler Funeral Home. A rosary will be said at 6:00 PM, Friday evening.
Corda “Suzanne” Goodrich was born March 6, 1957, to Don and Jeryne (Ruttman) Goodrich at Anchorage, Alaska while her father was stationed at the Elmendorf Air Force Base. Later, the family moved to Reno, Nevada, Lincoln, Nebraska, Wichita Falls, Texas, Nelson, Nebraska, Rhein-Main Air Base at Frankfurt, Germany, and then Hebron, Nebraska.
Suzanne graduated from high school at Hebron, Nebraska in 1975. She continued her education at Southeast Community College at Fairbury, Nebraska, then from 1985-1988 at University of Wyoming; graduating with a special education degree. She then later took several masters courses Lincoln, Nebraska from 1989-1995. Suzanne worked as a special education teacher who specialized in care for the mentally handicapped. On October 16, 1979, Suzanne married Dr. Gregory Wiedel at Hot Springs, South Dakota while Gregory worked on the railroad; after several moves, they made their home in Huron, South Dakota.
Suzanne enjoyed scrapbooking, stamping and watching Steve Harvey’s Family Feud. She cherished attending her grandchildren’s activities. Suzanne liked to travel and was able to visit all 50 states as well as all 7 continents. There was a special place in Suzanne’s heart for her dogs.
She was a member of Eastern Star, Rainbow, Huron Catholic Church where she taught confirmation classes. She was also active with supervising foreign exchange students with the Youth for Understanding. Suzanne was also a supervisor for Spirit of America National Honor Band in 1997.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one nephew, Christopher Ballinger; and several dogs she anticipates meeting over the Rainbow Bridge.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband, Dr. Gregory Wiedel of Huron; one daughter, Magen Rasmussen of Redwood Falls, MN; one son, Noah (Kelsey) Wiedel of Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Erik, Amelia, Cordelia, Sean, and Isla; siblings Tom Wiedel of Greensbury, Texas, Don Wiedel of Greeley, Colorado, John Wiedel of Schuyle, Nebraska, Peggy Ballinger of Concordia, Kansas, Marla Bowlin of McCook, Nebraska; as well as several nieces and nephews.
