Susan "Susie" E. Wallenstein, age 71, of Huron, died peacefully at home Monday, July 25, 2022, surrounded by her family.

A celebration of her life was held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 6th at the Riverview United Methodist Church, with a lunch to follow.

A visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church. Her celebration of life was live-streamed through the church's YouTube channel.

Susie was born on May 5, 1951, to Robert and Betty (Heim) McDermaid, at Faulkton, South Dakota. She was one of ten children. She graduated from Huron Senior High School.

On August 31, 1974, Susie married Kenneth Wallenstein; and together they had three children.

Susie worked at various businesses around Huron throughout her life including Prairie Trends, Wrap-It Corporation, Midcom, Heartland Collection Agency and The Donut Shoppe.  She enjoyed crocheting and plastic canvas needle work, giving most of these creations away to family and friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, two grandchildren and her friends.

Susie is survived by her husband, Kenneth; three children, Duane Wallenstein, Angela (Chris) Groon and Wade Wallenstein; two grandchildren, Lydian Groon (Ezekiel Kuiper) and Jake Groon; four sisters, Pat, Cindy, Margaret and Georgia; three brothers, Walt, Paul and Mark; and several nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elizabeth; two brothers, Robert Jr. and Anthony; and her grandparents.
