Steven Ray Johnson, 67, of Huron, passed away unexpectedly at his home July 4, 2023.
His memorial service was held at 1:30 PM, Monday, July 10th at the Kuhler Funeral Home.
Inurnment will be held in the Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
Steven Ray Johnson was born June 9, 1956, to Raymond and Madeline (Hansen) Johnson at Huron. He attended school in Huron and graduated from Huron High School in 1974.
After high school, Steve worked for the family business, Johnson Sand and Gravel, He then started working for Rich Hiles Trucking, where he hauled cattle for many years. Then Steve and Dennis operated Johnson and Sons Trucking. Later Steve and his son, Scott, started Longhorn Express. In November 2021, Steve retired from trucking due to health reasons, but continued working with his son, feeding bucking bulls.
Steve enjoyed hunting pheasants and deer. His favorite things were working and being left alone. He also enjoyed going fast while driving his snowmobile. He liked to take in the area's rodeos. Steve enjoyed the dogs he had over the years, especially Sparky, a white miniature poodle.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Johnson; his grandparents, Vern and Regina Johnson and Theodore and Margaret Hansen; and his aunt and uncle, Wanda and Leo Sevesind.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his mother, Madeline Johnson of Huron; his son, Scott Johnson of Redfield; his siblings, Mike and Sharon Johnson, Deb and Gary French, Rodney and Kelly Johnson, Dave and Julie Johnson, Roger Johnson and Dennis Johnson, all of Huron; his ex-wife, Colette Habbena of Redfield; and many nieces and nephews.
