Obituary

Stanley "Stan" Bawdon, age 65, of Wolsey, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Sanford USD Medical Center at Sioux Falls. His memorial service was held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 27th, at the Kuhler Funeral Home.
Stanley Richard Bawdon was born January 31, 1953, to Richard Miles and Lila Hall Bawdon at Huron. He grew up on the family farm south of Ree Heights and attended Hand County grade school. In 1968, the family settled in Huron. Stan graduated in 1971 from Huron High School.
Stan served in the South Dakota Army National Guard with the 153rd Engineer Battalion from 1971 to 1980.
On July 6, 1973, Stan married Idella Rice at Huron. From this union, they had two children, Corey and Raquel Bawdon. They later divorced.
Stan was employed with Huron Dressed Beef for many years until the company ended production due to a fire. He worked as a farm hand for local farmers until an automobile accident left him unable to work in 1991. He later moved to Wolsey.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, playing checkers, and riding around in the golf cart with Miles. He loved working with horses, up until he was unable to ride them due to his injuries.Stan had a giving heart, contributing to many organizations and supporting the St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, Montana.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his two children, Raquel Bawdon of Huron and Corey (Stephanie) Bawdon of Hayti; his mother, Lila (Hall) Bawdon of Huron; four grandchildren, Miles Bawdon, Connor Bawdon, Rylan Bawdon and Marissa Bawdon; three brothers, Jesse Bawdon of Sioux Falls, Terry (Marla) Bawdon of Huron, and Brad (Brenda) Bawdon of Alpena; his sister, Diane Bryan of North Pole, Alaska; two uncles, Marvin Bawdon of Sturgis and Robert Gerald "Jerry" (Marsha) Bawdon of Rapid City; his aunt, Bonnie Heasley of Miller; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James Hall, Jr. and Ada Hall; paternal grandparents, Robert "Dick" and Margaret (Bawdon) Braden; his father, Richard Miles Bawdon; his brother, Kevin Bawdon; three uncles, Omar Lee Bawdon, Doc Heasley, and Don Hall; an Aunt, Marley Bawdon; and brother-in-law, Norm Bryan.
