Shirley Thompson, age 92, of Huron, died Thursday, December 3, 2015, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was held at 11 AM, Monday, December 7th, at the Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Alexander Haines, officiating. Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Shirley Clites was born November 25, 1923, to Wilbur and Vivian (Fae) Clites at Carthage. She grew up in the Carthage area and in 1941 graduated from Carthage High School.
On September 10, 1944, Shirley married Emil Thompson at Howard. Together they enjoyed trapshooting, square dancing, and wintering in Mission, Texas for 12 years. Shirley worked at Farmers Market for 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and sisters.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband Emil of Huron; two daughters, Ellen (Warren) Storm of Huron and Shirleen Gerstenecker of Mitchell; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and seventeen great great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Duane (Janet) Clites of Litchfield, Minnesota; and one sister, Helen Dorsett of Staples, Minnesota.
