Sheila Nelson, age 75, of Huron, passed away Monday, August 26, 2019, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. A private family burial was held in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Sheila Jane Ebel was born October 20, 1943, to Oscar Ebel and Edna (Fischer) Ebel Peck at Eureka, South Dakota. She graduated from Huron High School in 1961.

On April 3, 1965, Sheila married Virgil Nelson. They later divorced.

Sheila worked as a nurse's aide and provided custodial cleaning services for many residential and local businesses until she retired.

She enjoyed going to auctions and rummage sales. Sheila had a great love for all animals, especially her cat, Gracie. This was all shared with her special friend, Ronnie. Closest to her heart were her two daughters, Venessa and Shelley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Clifford Peck; son-in-law, Mark Long; niece, Sheena Sorenson; and nephew, James Christopher "Chris" Sorenson.

She is survived by her daughter, Venessa Long of Lake Stevens, Washington and her children, Duncan, McLean and Elliot-Clacey Long, all of Lake Stevens, Washington; her daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Schaun Schnathorst of Huron and their daughter, Cassandra Schnathorst and grandson, Declan Hein, both of Aberdeen; her special friend, Ron Allen of Huron; her sister, Sharon Gleeson of Sioux Falls; and her nephew, Robert and Dawn Sorenson of Sioux Falls.
