Scott LaFee, age 62, of Huron, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021, at his home. His funeral service was held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 25th, at the Grace Episcopal Church. Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. His funeral service was live-streamed through the Kuhler Funeral Home website .
Scott requested that FUN-eral goers wear their favorite vacation clothes; sunglasses are encouraged. The celebration of his life continued at the Red Arrow Bar after his burial.
Scott LaFee was born October 19, 1958, to Kenneth and Betty (Porath) Hagedorn, at Huron. Scott was an infant when Kenneth passed away. On November 28, 1963, Betty married Glen LaFee, and later Glen adopted Scott.
Scott grew up in Huron, and graduated from Huron High School in 1976. He continued his education at National College of Business at Rapid City, graduating with an associate degree in Computer Science.
Scott married June Helgeson at Huron. They made their home in Huron, and had one son, Tyler. They later divorced.
He worked at Telelect for many years as a Production Control Manager. He also worked as a Professional Steel Buyer for Horizontal Machining and Manufacturing, Inc. for many years. He retired on December 27, 2019.
Scott lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping and hunting. He cherished the many memories and friends he made while riding his Harleys. Scott was the first president of the Windriders A.B.A.T.E. He also served as president for the Great Plains Snowtrailers, a local snowmobiling club.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Hagedorn; his parents, Glen and Betty LaFee; his sister, Jean Marie LaFee; and aunts and uncles, Mike and Mary Ann Gogolin, Judie Porath, Eugene Anderson and Stephen Haskell.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his son and daughter-in-law, Tyler and Danielle LaFee of Brookings; one grandson, Jordan LaFee; his aunts and uncles, Marilyn Haskell of Rapid City, Dee (David) Gill of Bemidji, Minnesota, Gordon Porath of Blackduck, Minnesota and Russell (Joan) Porath of Watertown; many cousins; and numerous life-long friends.
