Sara Ann Smith, age 41, of Huron, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018, at the Avera Queen of Peace at Mitchell, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her life was celebrated with a service at 6:30 PM, Friday, February 23rd at the Kuhler Funeral Home.
Sara Ann was born October 9, 1976, to Randy Kliewer and Ellen Wuestewald, at Huron. She attended grade school in Huron, Miller and Yankton as her family relocated. She then attended high school in California and New Mexico.
She was a devoted and hard-working employee. Sara enjoyed the many years working at Burger Plus at Huron. She also had a great time working at the Red Hog Saloon at Alpena.
Sara was a passionate animal lover. She raised pit bulls, cats and bearded dragons.She had a special place in her heart for "91" the calf she bottle fed, sometimes twice a day.
Sara loved to be creative in any way she could from her beading to her spunky made up games for the kids to play.
She cherished time spent with her husband, JJ and the boys. Sara enjoyed being outdoors, warm weather permitting. As a family they would dry camp, go boating and fishing at the river. She also liked checking traps at the farm. Sara liked league bowling and playing darts.
Sara had a passion for tattoos and body piercings.She had 26 tattoos and 34 body piercings. Every one of her tats had a beautiful meaning.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and one brother, Benjamin Kliewer.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband, James of Huron; three sons, Joseph Wise of Huron, Franklin Wuestewald of Groton and Carter Dargatz of Huron; two step-children, John Mark Smith of Campobello, South Carolina and Lilian Grace Garrett of Fountain Inn, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Caroline, Jaxon and another one on the way in May.
She is also survived by her mother and step-father, Ellen and Mike Davey of Aberdeen; her father, Randy Kliewer of Jacksonville, Florida; her brother, Chris Jaton of Yankton; her sister, Julie Lounsburg of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her brother, Chuckie Lounsburg of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her in-laws, James G. and Joyce Ann Smith, Philip E. Webb and Leebo Smith; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and a lot of good friends.
