When Ryan was younger, he participated in Casting for Kids contest and placed 2nd at Nationals in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Ryan loved to fish and hunt with his dad and brothers. A couple times, they all drew deer tags in the Black Hills and always wanted to go back but were never lucky enough to get tags again. Ryan also competed in BASS tournaments with Dad, and they were a pretty good team.

After high school, the town kid turned ranch kid and loved it. One of the places he worked was the Schilder family near Faulkton. He loved being outside, working on machinery, haying and being around the animals - The cowboy life with a cattle dog: Rowdy.

In June of 2019, he met Allison Hasart and they moved to Faulkton for a while and decided to move to her family's ranch near Ree Heights where he was running the Hasart Ranch, did custom ranching and worked part-time at the Kimball Livestock Exchange. They were married on September 24, 2022, in Miller, South Dakota. Their first son, Karsen Michael, was born October 10, 2023. After the sale of the Hasart ranch, the family moved to Huron in February of 2025. Their second son, Jaxson Ryan was born July 6, 2025. Ryan was working for Fast View Farms near Iroquois at the time of his passing.

Ryan leaves behind: his wife, Allison of Huron; their sons, Karsen and Jaxson of Huron; his parents, Rex and Denise of Ft.
