Ruth Gross, age 92, of Huron, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her funeral service was held at 2:30 PM, Monday, May 9th, at Kuhler Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Ruth's service was live-streamed through the Kuhler Funeral Home website.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Ruth was born May 1, 1930, to Jacob J.C. and Mary (Kleinsasser) Gross. As a child she moved with her parents to Chaseley, North Dakota and returned to the Huron, South Dakota area in 1947.
Ruth was employed as Audit Manager for Sears Roebuck and Company for over 20 years until their closing in 1982. She then worked as Administrative Secretary for the Beadle Conservation District until retiring in 1990. Ruth spent the last few years at Avantara – Huron.
She accepted Christ as her personal Savior as a teenager and was baptized by her uncle, the Rev. John G. Kleinsasser, at the Hope Mennonite Church at Chaseley, North Dakota. For many years now, Ruth enjoyed the fellowship at Bethesda Church at Huron.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a twin brother, Sam who died in infancy; three sisters, Marian Gross, Viola and Paul Kleinsasser and Verna Gross; two brothers, Vernal and Viola Gross and Jakie and Mary Ann Gross; two nieces, Beverly Wittman and Sharon Otto; and two great-nieces, Ashley Aguirre and Mary Otto.
She is survived by her two nephews, Perry and Beth Gross and Ken and Brenda Gross; five nieces, Colleen and Carl Aguirre, Charlene and Randy Herringa, Iris and Johnnie Holler, Joyce Smith and Brenda Kleinsasser; and many great-nieces and great-nephews and their families.
