Ruben Enander, age 87, of Huron, passed away Wednesday November 11, 2020, at Avantara - Huron.
A private burial was held in the Ebenezer Cemetery, rural Doland. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Ruben Lawrence Enander, Jr. was born August 20, 1933, along with his twin sister, Ruby, on the family farm near Stanley, North Dakota, to the late Ruben and Hilma Enander. He attended Stanley School and graduated in 1951. He farmed and took classes at NDSU until he was drafted in 1955. He served in Korea. After he was honorably discharged, Ruben returned to farming and married Lola Kleinsasser in 1961.
After Lola's death, Ruben married Agnes Kleinsasser in 1966. In 1969, they moved to Agnes's family farm near Frankfort, South Dakota, where he farmed until retiring in 1998.
He was active in the Ebenezer Mennonite Brethren Church, serving as a trustee and a deacon. In 2011, he and Agnes moved to assisted living in Huron, where he was a member of Bethesda Church.
Ruben was preceded in death by his first wife, Lola; his second wife, Agnes; two brothers, Milton and Ralph; and two sisters, Luella Bean and Ruby Walters.
He is survived by his son, Glen Enander of Mankato, Minnesota; his daughter, Helen Enander and her wife, Elizabeth Elliott of Lansing, Michigan; his brother, John and his wife, Gloria Enander of Stanley, North Dakota; his sister, Inez Simpson of Albany, Oregon; his brother-in-law, Don Walters of Minot, North Dakota; and many nieces and nephews.
