Obituary

Rodney Wiedenman, age 68, of Huron, died Sunday, June 19, 2016, at his home. A celebration of his life was held from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Saturday, June 25th at his home at 1675 Ohio Ave SW, Huron. Memorials may be directed to Huron Regional Medical Center Hospice.
Rodney Dennis Wiedenman was born May 17, 1948, to Boyd and Elaine (Martin) Wiedenman at Huron. He grew up in Huron and graduated from Huron High School in 1966. Rod attended college for one year and then entered the United States Army on February 13, 1968. While serving in the Army during Vietnam, Rod was awarded the following medals: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze service stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, a Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm and one oak leaf cluster, Civil Action Honor Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal with "V" Device and one oak leaf cluster, Bronze Star Medal with two oak leaf clusters; and was also recognized as an Expert Rifleman. He was honorably discharged on February 12, 1970.
Rod served as the president of Wiedenman Constuction, Inc, a long time construction company in the Huron area, working with his brothers, Phil and Jim.
On May 26, 1994, Rod married Carole Cranston at Yankton. They made their home in Huron.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Carole of Huron; eight siblings, Douglas and Donna Wiedenman of Burnsville, Minnesota, Gregory and Judith Wiedenman of Blaine, Washington, Jack and Shirley Wiedenman of Nipomo, California, Richard and Margaret Wiedenman of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Mary and Jim Roban of St. Paul, Minnesota, Phil and Melita Wiedenman of Huron, James and Krista Wiedenman of Huron and Larry and Michelle Wiedenman of Rapid City; and many nieces and nephews.
