Rochelle Marie Minske was born December 29, 1959, to Dewey Leland Minske and Mona Oechsle Minske Kleinsasser at Redfield, South Dakota. Shelly was born in Redfield, but grew up in Hitchcock where she attended high school. She graduated high school in 1978, and then continued on to get her bachelor's degree in teaching at Huron College.

She began her teaching career at Estelline schools for a couple years and found her new life passion. She wanted to become a nurse and she did. She went back to college and graduated in 1986. She began her new career as a Registered Nurse at the Redfield Community Memorial Hospital, where she worked for the next 35 years. During those years she also did training for EMT work, taught and lead training sessions in cardiac care, and was on the Spink County Ambulance Crew.

Shelly was a woman of many talents and interests. She loved challenging her mind and skills and over the years acquired many traits and trades. Her favorite thing to do whenever she had free time was crafts and adding to her collection of crafts. You name it, Shelly could make it.

She also loved camping and spending time with her family and their children. She loved her nieces and nephews deeply and you could always find her spending time with them whether playing a game, teaching a new game or making something for them. Shelly always had a way with children and making them feel important and special. Right from the get-go she was a caregiver and it was a natural instinct. Shelly was the type of person who would give the shirt off her back or was the one to call when you were in need.

She was a proud member of the Dacotah Territory Muzzle Loaders. She always loved black powder shooting with her father and continued to do that throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dewey Leland Minske; and one nephew, Jeremy Minske.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her mother, Mona (Jerome) Kleinsasser of Hitchcock; her siblings, Leland (Donna) Minske of Hitchcock, Roxanne Mitchell of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Galen (Keena) Minske of Huron and Penny (David) Wright of Huron; her sister-in-law, Deb Minske; her nieces and nephews, Erica Mitchell, Nicole (Cory) Berquist, Tyson Minske, Miranda (Damon Wheelhouse) Minske, Meghan (Nick Donahue) Wright and Mason Minske; her great nieces and nephews, Brody Kiple, Maci Berquist, Tanner Berquist and Kyleana Minske; her step-siblings, Reg (Laura) Kleinsasser, Janelle Walston and Brenda Dubois and their families.
