Robert "Bob" Small, age 61, of Alpena, died Thursday, October 19, 2017, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, October 25th, at the Alpena Community Center, Alpena. Burial was in the Rest Haven Cemetery, Alpena.
Robert Carl Small was born May 9, 1956, to Richard and Doris (Leighton) Small, at Huron.He graduated from Alpena High School .
On January 5, 1974, Bob married Linda Lou Lambert, at Huron.
In March 1980, Bob started work at the Federal Building. He retired in November 2011. He then drove bus for People's Transit from September 25, 2012 until present. Bob also volunteered with the Alpena Fire Department for 42+ years.
Bob was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. In the past, he hunted, golfed, and played on the Larry Hampshire's softball team. Bob enjoyed camping and sharing a cold one with his friends. Most of all, he loved his family, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and attending their activities.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Stacy (Shane) Machtemes of Faulkton; two sons, Jon (Sarah) Small of Brandon and Cody (Jaclyn) Small of Harrisburg; and eight grandchildren, Logan Machtemes, Taylor Machtemes, Trey Machtemes, Emilee Small, Karlee Small, Tucker Small, Lennan Small and Kensington Small.
Bob is also survived by his eight siblings, Susie (Doug) Tschetter of Huron, Nancy (Bill) Dawson of St. Charles, Missouri, Jayne (Bobby) Hyde of Farmington, Minnesota, Pete (Sandy) Small of Rapid City, Richard (Carla) Small of Alpena, Steven Small of Huron, A.J. Small of Huron, and Gina Small of Huron; mother-in-law, Martha Lambert of Faulkton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; father-in-law, Richard Lambert; niece, Elizabeth Robinson-Grillo; and wife of 40 years, Linda.
