Robert Peskey, age 79, of Huron, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2022, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.

His memorial service was held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 23, at the First United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the Restlawn Memory Garden Cemetery. Military honors were conducted by The South Dakota Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team.  His service was live-streamed through the Kuhler Funeral Home's website. 

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the American Heart Association or a Veteran's Charity of your choice in his name.

Robert was born September 4, 1942, to William and Iva (Brown) Peskey in Huron, South Dakota. After he graduated from high school, Bob enlisted in the United States Army. He honorably served 25 years, during which he trained at Ft. Hood, and served overseas in Korea and Germany. Reconnecting with Army buddies was important to him later in his life and we are thankful that he was able to do so.

Ever the jokester, it was not uncommon for Bob to tell joke or pull a harmless prank. He loved decorating the house for the holidays, Halloween being his favorite. He enjoyed woodworking, home improvement, gardening, model airplanes and trains, church mission trips and spending time with family and friends. Bob was an active member of the First United Methodist Church.

On February 14, 1969, Robert married Mary Lokhorst in Sheldon, Iowa. They made their home in Huron. Bob worked for the USDA as a federal meat inspector until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Lokhorst) Peskey; his parents, William and Iva; his brothers Larry, Jim, Del and Jeff Peskey; and his daughter-in-law, Melissa Peskey.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his children, Renae (Joe) Sefrna of Sioux Falls, Roxi (Brad) Thompson of Waterford, Michigan and Ryan (Brianna) Peskey of Hartford; his grandchildren, Hope and Gunnar Thompson, Charlee and Axton Peskey; one brother, Dave (Rachel) Peskey of Huron; and many nieces and nephews.
