Obituary

Robert F. Eichstadt, age 92, of Wolsey, died Saturday, January 4, 2014, at SunQuest Healthcare Center. His funeral service was at 11 AM Tuesday, January 7th at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wolsey with the Rev. L. Scott Spiehs officiating. Burial was in the St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Robert F. Eichstadt was born January 5, 1921, in Wolsey to Herman and Martha (Gogolin) Eichstadt. Robert graduated from Wolsey High School and also from South Dakota State University.
On January 11, 1942, he married Mildred A. Moller in Huron. He farmed for 60 years southwest of Wolsey. In 2002, Robert retired from farming and moved to Huron.
Robert was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed going for drives, auctions, hunting, fishing, and visiting with family and friends. Robert enjoyed playing dominos and taught most of his grandchildren how to count by playing the game.
Grateful for having shared his life are five sons, Bruce (Irene) Eichstadt of Wolsey, Dennis (Ranae) Eichstadt of Sioux Falls, Thomas Eichstadt of Huron, Timothy (Diane) Eichstadt of Norfolk, Nebraska and Merle (Pam) Eichstadt of Huron; two daughters, Delores (Robert) Chapman of Sioux Falls and Mary (Bruce) Boetel of Volga; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Sibbers of Huron; and three brothers, Richard Eichstadt of Huron, Paul (Kathryn) Eichstadt of Wolsey and Willis Eichstadt of Monmouth, Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred; four brothers, Dale, Mark, Martin and Fredrick; and an infant sister, Mary Alice.
