Robert Howard Carl, age 84, of Huron, SD, formerly of Miller, SD, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Avantara Huron.

His graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 29, 2024 at the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miller, SD.

Robert Howard Carl, the son of Howard Robert and Rachel Marie (Benz) Carl, was born on July 8, 1939, in Miller, SD.  Robert attended and graduated From the South Dakota School for the Deaf.  He also attended college. Robert lived in Miller, SD, Sioux Falls, SD and Pierre, SD before moving to Huron, SD in 2000.

Robert worked as a custodian for the South Dakota State Capitol Building in Pierre, SD for many years until his retirement. A job he enjoyed immensely.

Robert was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Miller, SD for many years.  He also attended the First United Methodist Church in Huron (now known as Faith Alive Community Church).

He enjoyed word search puzzles and playing pool.  He loved to spend time with his family and friends. One of his favorite things to do was taking trips in his Pontiac Grand Am.

Grateful for having shared in Robert's life are his cousin-in-law, David Alden, and several other cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his cousin, Sharen (David's wife); and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
