Rita Wren, age 79, formerly of Huron, South Dakota, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022 in St. Paul Minnesota.

Her memorial service was held at 4:00 PM, Friday, June 24th at the Kuhler Funeral Home. A visitation was held one hour prior to the service.

Rita, better known to her friends as "Birdie", was born Rita Louise Fahy September 4, 1942, in Emery, South Dakota. She graduated from Emery High School in 1963. After high school she worked in a variety of fields, including as a typesetter for the Emery Enterprises and as a housekeeper at Huron Regional Medical Center.

As well as being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Rita enjoyed her pets and sports. She was a life-long Twins fan and was especially fond of attending home basketball games at the former Huron College.

After relocating to the Twin Cities in 2017, Rita participated in the Wilder Adult Day program. Her favorite outings were Twins games and visiting the wonderful Como Park Zoo.  Rita had resided at the Lyngblomsten Care Center since 2020.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Helen Fahy; her first husband, Gerald Uhrick; her second husband, Tim Wren; and her brothers, sister and sister-in-law.

She is survived by her daughters, Ruth Hiles and Ellen Uhrich; her grandchildren, Brooklyn (Taylor) Tomaszewsk and Mason Hiles; her brothers-in-law, Mike (Sandy) Wren and Earl Bult; and numerous nieces and nephews.
