Phyllis Jean Kornock, age 86, of Huron, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.

Her funeral service was held 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 22, at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Riverside Cemetery.

Her visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.

Phyllis Jean Helmricks, the daughter of Arthur and Edna (Riege) Helmricks, was born on February 2, 1938, in Orchard, Nebraska.  Phyllis' family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, when she was a child.  Phyllis attended school and graduated from Fort Collins High School.

Phyllis married Eugene Kornock on January 26, 1964, in Fort Collins, Colorado.  The family made their home in Fort Collins and a few other places until moving to Huron in 1973.  Phyllis worked as a cashier for the Osco Drug and Lewis Drug Stores, and in the Bakery at Randall Foods for a time before finishing her career in the Deli department at Fair City Foods.

Phyllis was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Huron. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and reading.  Phyllis loved to collect salt and pepper shakers, and had an extensive collection.  One of Phyllis' favorite pastimes was watching the Food Network.

Grateful for having shared in Phyllis' life are her two daughters, Linda Kornock and Melinda Prindle, both of Huron; her grandson, Colin Prindle of Woodland, California; and one niece and one nephew.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Edna; her husband, Eugene in 2016; and her brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Lavon Helmricks.
