Visitation was held from 1:00 to 7:00 PM at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with her family present from 5:30 to 7:00 PM, Thursday evening.

Phyllis Arlene was born August 7, 1929, to Walter and Margaret (Anderson) Allen, near Iroquois, SD.  She started grade school in Manchester, staying during the week with her grandparents in town, and graduated from Iroquois High School in 1947.

She worked at the Iroquois Bank after high school and married her high school sweetheart, Frank, in December 1949. They briefly lived in Yale and then farmed south of Iroquois until 1957 when they moved to the Allen family farm east of Iroquois. Together they raised three children and farmed until 1990, raising crops, cattle and pigs over the years.

Phyllis was a member of the Iroquois Trinity United Methodist Church. She was an excellent homemaker and mom, helped on the farm, played piano for Sunday school, produced numerous knitted and crocheted projects, and sewed much of her family's clothing. She was a dedicated election worker for several years and enjoyed hosting hunters in the fall.

In 1990, she and Frank retired from the farm and moved to their new home in Iroquois. She continued to do sewing projects, enjoyed her birthday group, scrapbooking and attending granddaughters' activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank in 1995; one son, Wayne in 2019; and her sister, Ruth and husband, Bob Fenner.

Phyllis is survived by two children, Alan (Marlys) Fenner of Menno and Susan (Doug) Meyer of Iroquois; three granddaughters, Carrie (Zach) Oster of Whitewater, WI, Erin (Cody) Raveling of Marshall, MN and Shelby (Brodee) Landmark of Iroquois; four great-grandchildren, Eden and Beau Raveling and Laken and Mikah Landmark; as well as her brother, Ken (Gerry Lynn) Allen of Sioux Falls.
