Norman Hofer, age 81, of North Branch, MN, and formerly of Hitchcock, passed away Monday, June 17, 2024, at Ecumen Assisted Living, where he had resided for the last 4 years.

His funeral service was held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 15, at Kuhler Funeral Home. Interment followed at Ebenezer Cemetery in Doland at 1:30 PM Thursday afternoon. His service was live-streamed.

Visitation was held one hour before the service.

Norman Gene Hofer was born on December 8, 1942, in Huron, South Dakota, to parents, Josh and Katie Glanzer Hofer. He grew up on the family farm near Hitchcock, South Dakota.

He married Viola Schrioch in 1972, and they made their home in the North Branch, Minnesota area. Norm worked on power plants and in construction. He was a long-time member of the Carpenters Union. Norm also enjoyed buying and selling antiques.

He is survived by his brother, Harlow (Michal) and two sisters, Carol (Bob) Murphy and Donna Swanson, all of Sioux Falls; and five nephews, Jason Hofer and Justin Hofer, both of Rapid City, Ryan Hofer and Michael Swanson, both of Sioux Falls and Josh Swanson of Los Angeles, California.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Myron Hofer and Marlene Hofer.

Our family would like to say "Thank you" to Norm's good friend, Jan Dusbabek, who was always there when we needed her. She was an advocate and a true friend.
