She was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, both at Highmore and Huron, teaching Sunday school and Bible school. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at Huron Regional Medical Center for 12 years, and at the Madison Elementary School library for 12 years. She was a former 4-H leader, member of the National Secretaries Association, Huron Business and Professional Women, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Norma and Harold traveled extensively throughout the United States, both by car and Farmers Union bus. After Harold's death in 1991, she continued to travel coast to coast, to visit her children.
