Norma Jean Hamrick, age 74, of Oro Valley, Arizona, peacefully gave up her life to the Lord on Sunday, May 22, 2016. Her funeral service was held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 2nd at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery at Woonsocket. Norma Jean was born November 4, 1941 at Mitchell, South Dakota. She graduated from Huron High School in 1959.
She and Jamie Hamrick, the love of her life, were joined in matrimony on October 14, 1961.
Norma lived a full and blessed life. Norma gave her all in everything that she did. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend to many. Although caring for her family was always her top priority, she found time to pursue a career in the insurance business, working in South Dakota and Arkansas for many years. She was a member of the St. Mark's United Methodist Church at Tucson, Arizona.
Full of energy, ambition, and a positive attitude toward life, Norma was a talented women. A few of the activities that filled her life were sewing (even making Jamie's suits in the early years of their marriage), fishing (with the family record fish), riding motorcycles (she loved the outdoors), and archery (a recognized archer in the unlimited class winning several tournaments including a South Dakota State Championship).
Norma is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Jamie Hamrick of Oro Valley, Arizona; their daughters, Carla Jean (Don) Gilbreath and Jamie Elizabeth Shannon; grandchildren, Rachel Gilbreath, Allison Gilbreath, Erica (Nick) Hosford, Dustin Butcher, A.J. Shannon and Jason Shannon; and great-granddaughter, Tynsley Hosford.
