Norma Glanzer, age 86, of Iroquois, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Her funeral service was held at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 9th, at Bethesda Church. Burial was in the Ideal Cemetery.
Norma Ruth was born November 4, 1931, to Jacob K. and Kathrine (Tschetter) Waldner at Bridgewater, South Dakota. She was baptized in 1947 at the Bridgewater Neu Hutterthal Church. She graduated from high school at Freeman Academy. The Waldner family moved to the Carpenter area in 1953.
On November 4, 1953, Norma married Wilson Glanzer at her parent's home at rural Carpenter. They made their home and farmed together at rural Iroquois.
She was an active member at Hutterthal Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday school and worked with Christian Helping Hands.
Norma worked as a dietary aide at the Huron Nursing Home from 1982 to 1996. After retiring in 1996, Wilson and Norma moved to Iroquois, where she cared for children at her day care.
Norma enjoyed gardening, baking and sewing clothing for her children. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Cathy, in infancy; her husband, Wilson, June 5, 2007; one son-in-law, Tony Anderson; one brother, Delmer Waldner; and one foster brother, Melroy Waldner.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her four daughters, Connie Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Carla (Dean) Reilly of Iroquois, Charlene (Bill) Berg of Fargo, North Dakota, and Cathryn Glanzer of Aberdeen; eight grandchildren, Angie (Mike) Arrgon, Megan Anderson, Becky (Mike) Harris, Cody Reilly, and Cyndi (Benjamin) Watson, Kristyn (Dave) Frazier, Nathan (Savanah) Berg and Allison Berg; and sixteen great-grandchildren, Deion Harris, Chenoa Harris, Gunnar Harris Skyla Harris, Mariah Watson, Konner Watson, Lucy Watson, Val Watson, Malcom Watson, Grayce Frazier, Maxine Frazier, Charlee Frazier, Kaylee Berg, Bentley Berg, Molleigh Berg and Eleanor Berg.
