Nixola "Nikki" V. Evans, age 83, of Huron, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at the SunQuest Health Care Center. Her funeral service was at 11 AM, Saturday, February 14th at the First United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Nixola V. Lloyd was born on December 15, 1931, to Lucille Lloyd at Wessington. She was raised by Harry and Mildred Rairdin. Nikki received her education from Huron High School.
On March 11, 1954, she married Russell Evans at Huron.
She was the executive director of the Nyoda Girl Scout Council for seventeen years, retiring in 1993. She also was employed with Midcontinent Cable for seven years.
Nikki was a member of Business Professional Women, Toastmistress, Huron Safety Council, and First United Methodist Church where she served as the Building Committee Chairperson. She enjoyed cake decorating, sewing, quilting, and embroidery.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell in 2010; one son, John in 1996; and one grandson, Jason Evans in 2012.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her five children, Russell A. (Lisa) Evans of Castle Rock, Colorado, Rev. Linda Evans of Acworth, Georgia, Nancy (Dave) Houlihan of Renner, South Dakota, Rev. Franklin Evans of Phoenix, Arizona, and Lisa McCrary of Alpharetta, Georgia; one daughter-in-law, Sharlene Evans of Littleton, Colorado; sixteen grandchildren and their families, Todd (Heidi) Evans and their children, Kinsey, Jenna, and Carsen; Russell (Dawn) Evans and their children, Samantha, Lilian, and Luke; Cherish (Heath) Gran and their son, Jackson; Brian Evans; Shannon (Nate) Van Bibber; Shawn Evans; Jennifer (Austin) DeBrito and their children, Aiden and Avery; Chris (Megan) Houlihan and their children, Tyler and Evan; Tom (Joy) Houlihan and their daughter, Brianna; Abby (Dave) Wilson and their children, Memphis and Elli; Shaunna (Andy) Fretwell and their children Daniel and Joshua; Jessi McCrary; Joshua (Amanda) McCrary; Abram (Jessica) McCrary and their children, Colton and Addison; Emma McCrary; and Joey McCrary; one granddaughter-in-law, Soon Nam and her children, Dylan and Kayla; and half-brother, Dennis (Charlene) Ringheimer of Laurel, Montana.
