Obituary

Nicholas John Osmin, age 34, of Huron, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018, at his home. His memorial service was held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 11th at the Kuhler Funeral Home. A memorial service in New York will be announced at a later date.
Nicholas John Osmin, the beloved son of Sherry Osmin and Robert Osmin was born July 7, 1983 at Hornell, New York. In 2002, Nick enlisted in the United States Army with the 10th Mountain Division as a mechanic with his secondary MOS in infantry. Nick served a twelve-month tour in Afghanistan, earning multiple medals including the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War On Terrorism Service Medal,the Global War On Terrorism Service Medal and the Combat Service Ribbon.
Nick loved fishing in Port Aransas and working on the fishing ships before moving to Huron, South Dakota. He was a sketch artist and earned a national scholarship through the VA recreational therapy program. Nick loved his family and cherished his time with his children.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bill Cole.
He is survived by his mother, Sherry and Porfirio Vasquez, Canisteo; his father, Robert Osmin of Port Aransas, Texas; his loving partner in life, Kari Luellman of Huron, South Dakota. Nick left behind two daughters, Keerstin Mary of Avoca, New York and Cyra Rogue of Huron, South Dakota; one son, Kristofer Osmin of Lyons, New York; one step daughter, Paige Wise of Hornell, New York; and one step son, Nathan Wise of Hornell, New York.
He will also be sadly missed by two sisters, Erica Brewer of Avoca, New York and Valerie Sexton of Jasper, New York and one brother, Nathan Osmin of Port Aransas, Texas.
Nick is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Shirley and Charles Marlatt and paternal grandmother, Eloise Turner, all of Canisteo, New York; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
