Nancy Gilbert, age 89, of Huron, passed away at her home Thursday, May 19, 2022.

Nancy Janet Burger Gilbert was born October 31, 1932, to Glenn and Doris Burger in Huron, South Dakota. She attended Huron public schools, graduating in 1950 from Huron High Sschool. Nancy attended college at McCalister College in St. Paul, Minnesota, graduating with a degree in education.

She would later marry Morris (Bud) Gilbert, Jr. Both teaching in Jeffers, Minnesota and St. Lawrence, South Dakota. They welcomed 2 children into the world, Lynn in 1959 and David in 1966.

She was a member of Eastern Star, PEO and the First Presbyterian Church in Huron. She worked various jobs throughout her life: Carleton College in Northfield Minnesota, South Dakota Farmers Union in Huron, Huron College and Fashion Bug in the Huron Mall.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; her mother, Doris; her father, Glenn; one grandson, Filip Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Haven Paradeis; and her in-laws, Mary and Morris Gilbert, Sr.

Grateful for sharing her life are her children, Lynn Jones and David Gilbert, both of Huron; her grandchildren, Whitney (Tanner) Easton and Cally (Jacob) Paradeis; and her great-grandchildren, Paycen, Huxley and Jentry Easton and Hudsyn Small.
