Nadean Vilhauer, age 83, of Huron, joined her husband, Jake Vilhauer, and entered her eternal home on Friday, June 16, 2023, while at Avantara – Huron.
Their funeral service was held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 19 at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery. Their service was live-streamed.
Their visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Sunday, June 18 at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with his family present during that time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church Womens Committee fund.
Nadean was born on May 13, 1940, in Huron, South Dakota, to Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Mary Decker. She was the youngest of two daughters, growing up with her sister, Ramona.
She married Jake Vilhauer on December 23, 1961, in Huron. Shortly after marriage they lived in Eugene, Oregon before returning Huron to start a family and raise their two daughters.
Nadean graduated from the Huron schools in 1958, Methodist School of Nursing in Mitchell, SD in 1961. She advanced her education to become a Board-Certified Perioperative Nurse in the Huron Regional Medical Center Surgical Department. In her tenure she received numerous outstanding and distinguished Service awards until her retirement in 2009.
Nadean was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Huron. She served on numerous committees' as well as serving as a Sunday School teacher. In 2016, she was presented with HINENI award in recognition of her Volunteer Services.
Nadean was preceded in death by her husband, parents and her sister Ramona (Decker) Kleinsasser.
Nadean is survived by her two daughters, Lisa (Mike) Von Bergen, Sioux Falls, SD and Mary Beth Vilhauer-Bommersbach, Sioux Falls, SD; six grandchildren, Jacob Von Bergen, Cierra Von Bergen, Hunter Von Bergen, Will Bommersbach, Jack Bommersbach and Luci Bommersbach; her brother-in-law, Everett Kleinsasser; three sisters-in-law, O'linda Lonborg, Leona (Jerry) Mattke, Carolyn Shabram; one niece, Cindy (Craig) McCullum, Watertown, MN; two nephews; Wendell (Carol) Kleinsasser, Alliance, NE and Terry (Renae) Kleinsasser, Mitchell, SD.
