Michael B. Maddock, age 75, of Huron, passed away Friday evening, April 7, 2017, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral Mass was celebrated at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 11th, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. Burial was in the St. Martins Catholic Cemetery, with military rites by the Huron Veterans Council. The family prefers memorials to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the local humane society or the charity of your choice.
Michael B. Maddock was born on August 27, 1941, to Bernard and Helen (Schneider) Maddock at Fargo, North Dakota. He graduated from Fargo Shanley High School in 1959. He attended Jamestown College and graduated from North Dakota State University in 1970 with a degree in Business Administration and Economics.
Mike joined the US Army on January 5, 1961, and served three years in the Military Police. He was stationed at Ft. Gordon, Georgia and Ft. Lewis, Washington. He was honorably discharged on December 14, 1963.
He married Juanita "Tipp" Riley and they later divorced. Michael later married Marlene Williams in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mike worked for the Fargo Police Department for three years as a patrolman, and five years as a detective with the Burlington Northern Railroad while attending Jamestown College. After graduating from NDSU, he went to work for the USDA Office of the Inspector General as an auditor in Kansas City, Missouri, transferring to Huron in 1979. He retired from there in 1994. Mike also was a crop adjustor for Ag Force through F & M Bank and also packaged guaranteed loans for the F & M Bank. He was Exalted Ruler of the Huron Elks Lodge from 1982-1983.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents who were killed in an automobile accident in 1985; two sisters, Sheila Maddock and Corky Netherland; and one brother, Mark Maddock.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene of Huron; his three children, Mike Maddock of Huron, Pat Maddock of Arlington, Texas, and Jodi (Lee) Langevin of Kasota, Minnesota; one stepson, JR (Chelsea) Williams of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mary (Gene) Moneke of Omaha, Nebraska and Penny Maddock of The Colony, Texas; three brothers, John (Judi) Maddock of Perham, Minnesota, James (Mary Lou) Maddock of Omaha, Nebraska and Tom Maddock of Pottsboro, Texas; one brother-in-law, Dale Netherland of Plano, Texas; six grandchildren, Tom, Megan, Kayla and Miya Geisler and Alyssa and Lani Langevin; two great-grandchildren, Paisley Geisler and Kendall Warnke; and three step grandchildren, Bode, Tucker and Sawyer Williams.
