Mary Jane Kasperson, age 79, of Huron, died Monday, October 10, 2016, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was held at 10:30AM, Friday, October 14th at the First United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mary Jane was born January 11, 1937, to Henry and Margaret (Nelsen) Van Ekeren in Corsica, South Dakota. Mary lived in Mitchell before her family moved to Huron around 1951. She graduated from Huron High School in 1955. She married her true love Donald Edward Kasperson on August 11, 1956. She worked for the family business, Kasperson Oil Company, keeping the books.
Mary Jane had a love for animals. She also spent much of her time tending to her flower garden. Together, Don and Mary Jane went on numerous camping and fishing trips. In early years, they enjoyed riding motorcycles, especially through Yellow Stone Park.
Mary Jane was a very active member in her church, First United Methodist, where she was a greeter, a servant, along with other ministries. Other favorite past times included reading, watching her grandkids play soccer and shopping.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her three children, Debbie (Rex) Lennie of Huron, Gary Kasperson of Huron, and Michelle (Kenneth) Bevis of Jackson, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Korey Flolo, Nichole Briley, Ashley (Jeremy) Jungemann, Alex (Megan) Kasperson, Austin Kasperson, Tysa Buckholtz, Bree Buckholtz, Brock Bevis; and six great-grandchildren, Alondra Rodriguez, Cody Lilyquist, Chloe Flolo, Cayden Flolo, Emersyn Jungemann, Lennex Kasperson and BabyJungemann, due in November.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Donald Kasperson on February 28, 2015; her parents; and three siblings, as infants.
