Mary A. Jacobs, age 62, of Huron, died Thursday, July 2, 2015, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 8th at the Huron Church of the Open Bible, with Javis Haugeberg, officiating.
Mary Ann "Susie" Diede was born June 13, 1953, to Eldon and Rosa (Smith) Diede at Huron. She grew up in Huron and graduated from Huron High School. She then attended and graduated from Northwest College of Commerce in Huron.
She married Dennis Petersen; they had two children, Todd and Amy. They later divorced. She then married Herman Doty; they had one son, David. Later, Herman died. Mary then married Jerry Jacobs, and they had two children, Heidi Jo and Eldon. Mary and Jerry later divorced.
Mary lived her entire life in Huron, where she worked at many places.
She took great joy in watching her children in their activities, including swim team, soccer, softball, orchestra, band, basketball, and wrestling. She cherished her cats, dog and the grand-dogs. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandson.
Mary was an active member of the Huron Church of the Open Bible where she helped with the food giveaways and attended Bible study. She was also an active participant in Relay for Life, Modern Woodmen nights, and family birthday parties. Mary always kept a positive attitude and lived by and shared the motto "Life Is Good."
She was preceded in death by her parents; one husband, Herman Doty; one brother, Jerome "Jay" Diede; one sister-in-law, Virginia Diede; and one daughter-in-law, Brenda Petersen.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her five children, Todd Petersen of Huron, Amy (Shayne) Raymer of Florence, David (Liz) Doty of Brookings, Heidi Jo (Travis) Russell of Huron, and Eldon (Ashly) Jacobs of Huron; eight grandchildren, Casey Petersen of Huron, Jason Petersen of Sioux Falls; Samantha (her fiance, Ryan Fischer) Raymer of Brookings; Trevor Raymer of Florence; and Logun, Sadie, Linkon, and Madilynn Mary Ann Doty, all of Brookings; one great-grandson, Brayden Fischer of Brookings; and one brother, Tony Diede of Wessington Springs.
