Mark Ransom, age 54, of Huron, passed away at his home Monday, December 4, 2023.

Mark's life will be celebrated at a gathering during the Summer of 2024.

Mark was born December 25, 1968, to Jerry and Elizabeth (Mentelle) Ransom, at Huron, South Dakota. He grew up in Huron and was a member of the Huron High School Class of 1987. The friends he made during his school years, continued to be his friends all of his life. He enjoyed watching and traveling with his friends who play on the Huron All Stars Hockey team. Mark's first job was at Wally's Car Wash.

The summer of 1988, Mark rode his motorcycle to Tallahassee, Florida to spend the summer with his brother, Mike.

Mark was married to Jill for several years. They later divorced but remained friends.

Mark worked at Dakota Pork in Huron, he drove truck for Wilbur Ellis and Jim Brock, he was a welder for a few years in Brandon, he worked at a recycling company in Sioux Falls and Good-Year Tire in Sioux Falls and Huron. He also worked for Coca-Cola and Runnings in Huron. Several back injuries forced him to disability.

He was adventurous, he liked to go fast on anything with wheels. Mark rode motorcycles and snowmobiles, and enjoyed tinkering on his 1951 Red Chevy Pickup. Cruising Dakota Avenue was a favorite pastime of his, and was known to be the last one still cruising at night.

Mark also liked to go hunting with family and friends. He enjoyed playing foosball. He was an av id fan of dirt track racing. He was known for being a jokester and a prankster.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two dogs, Gladys and Oz.

Survivors include his siblings, Douglas Ransom of Lincoln City, Oregon, Rhonda Ransom of Huron and Mike Ransom of Sioux Falls; two nieces, Natashia and Brittany and their families; two nephews, Ryan and Jeremy and their families; many cousins; and numerous life-long friends.
