Mark Anderson, age 72, of Carthage, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
His funeral service was held at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 15, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage, with burial in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. A lunch followed at the Carthage Community Hall.
Visitation was held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, Thursday, November 14, at the Kuhler Funeral Home.
Mark Blaine Anderson, the son of Verlie and Mildred (Starzl) Anderson, was born on November 17, 1951, in Huron. Mark attended school and graduated from Carthage High School in 1970. Shortly after high school, Mark joined the U.S. Army National Guard.
Mark married Colette Swanson on July 20, 1974, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage. The couple made their home in Carthage, and raised two sons, Blaine and Brice.
After his return from the Guards, Mark worked in Sioux Falls, for a year before moving back to Carthage. He then began farming and working for Land O'Lakes in Volga. He retired from Land O' Lakes after twenty-five years of employment. Upon retirement, Mark began trucking and custom combining from his home in Carthage.
Mark was a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage. He was also a member of the Jaycees. Mark was a volunteer fireman for many years as well.
Mark was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to spend time with his family especially the many trips to his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Mark was also a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins. Mark was a great guy and had many friends. He never met anyone he didn't like and was always willing to help someone in need.
Grateful for having shared in Mark's life are his wife, Colette of Carthage; his two sons, Blaine (Jessica) Anderson and Brice (Amy) Anderson, both of Huron; four grandchildren, Jaya and Oakley Anderson, Aubrey (Richard) Bullard of Las Vegas, NV and Kyler Cavin of Boseman, MT; one great-grandchild, Elaina Bullard of Las Vegas, NV; two brothers, Rod Anderson of Madison and Doug (Marnell) Anderson of Bend, OR; three sisters-in-law, Patricia (Gary) Junker of Redfield, Angie (Bill) Nibbelink of Flandreau and Gloria Anderson of Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, David and Linden Anderson.
