Marilyn Schultz, age 84, of Huron, passed away of natural causes on Friday, January 15, 2021, at Avantara – Huron.

A celebration of her life is planned for this summer. A private burial was held in the Tulare Cemetery at Tulare.

Marilyn Rae MacNeill was born June 13, 1936, to Laird and Irene (Hilkemeier) MacNeill at Redfield. She attended rural school and the Tulare School graduating in 1954, and then attended South Dakota State University and Northern State University.

Marilyn married Durrell Schultz at Tulare in 1955. They became the third generation to live on his family's homestead near Tulare, where they raised registered Herford cattle.  In 1977, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Huron College and taught in public school, and later taught many students in her home. After selling their registered herd, Durrell and Marilyn moved to rural Huron in 1981.

She enjoyed gardening and house plants. Marilyn was a member of Living Hope Alliance Church in Huron, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.

She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sons, James and John; and her husband on November 29, 2009.

Survivors include her four daughters, Joyce (Mark) Haynes of Omaha, Nebraska, JoAnne Sargent of Garretson, Mary Jo (Brian) Hofer of Huron and Lynette (Steven) Callich of Hahira, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Richelle (JR) Hofer, Melissa Sargent (Henry Dittman), Heather (Judson) Moore, Justin (Alexa) Haynes, Stefan Haynes, Joshua (Rose) Hofer, Rachael (Jason) Collins, Jonathan (Jasmin) Haynes and James Haynes; nine great-grandchildren, Leslie (Chanze) Powell, Clay Sargent, Mason Hofer, Caleb Sargent, Zach Hofer, Dusty Sargent-Palmer, Addilyn Moore, Laine Collins and Maggie Hofer; one great-great-grandson, Raymond Mark Powell; one sister, Margaret (Berle) Clemensen of Tucson, Arizona; a sister-in-law, Janice (Stanley) Steinheuser of Tulare; and three nieces and nephews and their families.
