Marguerite Blaine, age 84, of Huron, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at the SunQuest Health Care Center. Her funeral mass was celebrated at 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 27th, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will be at a later date in the Custer City Cemetery at Custer.
Marguerite was born October 16, 1932, in Winner, South Dakota, to Carl and Mary (Rodgers) Diez. She graduated from Mission High School and attended Black Hills State College. After earning a teaching certificate, she taught country school for a short period of time.
She was united in marriage to Francis C. Blaine on June 7, 1952. Their faith and love of family was their greatest joy.
Marguerite enjoyed crossword puzzles, card playing and a good joke and laughter. She was full of life and always a good friend to all. Music surrounded her. She played piano and sang in church choirs for many years. Marguerite was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Caring for her family was always foremost in her life. To know her was to love her. She touched many with her smile and the sparkle in her eyes. She will be missed.
She is survived by her five children, Joan Robley of Phoenix, Arizona, Marilyn (Dave) DeBoer of Huron, Mark (Lisa) Blaine of Omaha, Nebraska, Christine (Jerry) Rahn of Sioux Falls and Francis (Cheryl) Blaine of Charles City, Iowa; nineteen grandchildren, Tiffany Blaine, Holli (Jeff) Halpin, Sarita (Matt) Pollock, Amber (Nathan) Eichstadt, Autumn (Brady) Schlechter, Brandon (Mickie) DeBoer, Anthony (Kristen) Blaine, Andrea (Jimmy) Boatright, Preston Blaine, Madison Blaine, McKenzie Blaine, Mitchell Blaine, McKenna Blaine, Gregory Blaine, Jeff Sanborn, Chris (Becca) Bixler, Trevor (Hilde) Blaine, Devon (Shaina Singer) Blaine and Levi Blaine; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Randi and Tatum Grossmiller, Juniper Halpin, Mason Sanborn, Emmitt and Troy Blaine, Henry Blaine, Adelyn, Natalie and Emerson Pollock, Bobby Eichstadt, John Dudley Bixler and Lucy Bixler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters, Dorothy in infancy, Adele, Sister Ellen, and Sister Nellie; and five brothers, Don, Roger, Jim, Carl and Bob.
