Obituary

Marcus Ziegenbalg, age 58, of Huron, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at his home. His graveside service was held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 23, at Riverside Cemetery.
Marcus David Ziegenbalg was born November 29, 1959, to Cleveland and Maytha Alice (Smith) Ziegenbalg at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1965, the Ziegenbalg family moved to Topeka, Kansas. They later settled in Kansas City, Kansas in 1966. Marcus attended Kansas City area school and learned a trade of painting at Job Corps. In the 1970's, he enlisted in the National Guard.
Marcus spent his early years traveling across the country before settling in California to start his painting business. In the 1980's he decided to live closer to his brother at Garden City, Kansas where he worked for IBP. Marcus decided to continue with his painting business in Nebraska throughout the 1990's. Eventually, he settled in Huron, South Dakota.
Marcus enjoyed traveling and discovering new places. He also enjoyed playing cribbage. He loved his family and spending time with his daughter. Marcus was a great brother and a good friend.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his daughter, Shandra Hughes and her mother, Carrie Hughes, both of Huron; his brother, Cleveland Ziegenbalg of Kansas City, Kansas; his aunt, June Goble of Atlanta, Georgia; his niece, Candice Medlin of Kansas City, Kansas; his nephew Cameron Ziegenbalg of Texas; three great-nephews; and one great-niece.
Marcus was preceded in death by his parents and his uncle, Paul Goble.
