Mandy Carlson-Gogolin, age 41, of Huron, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Avera McKennan Hospital at Sioux Falls. Her funeral service was held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 4th at the Congregational United Church of Christ. A family burial was held in the Restlawn Memory Gardens.
Mandy Carissa Carlson was born January 3, 1976, to Robert Carlson and Jacqueline Lassle Carlson at St Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1994. She continued her education at Northern State University, where she graduated cum laude with a BA in English in 1997 and a Master of Science in Education in 1999.
While she was in college, Mandy worked at the Northern State library. Mandy then taught at Aberdeen Roncolli High School where she was also the play director. She later moved to Huron where she was an English Professor at Huron University. She later worked from home for Educational Services as a test scorer.
On September 25, 2004, Mandy married Tad Eugene Gogolin at Huron.
Mandy enjoyed reading, writing, performing in plays, and walking the family dog, Summit. Mandy was a gifted writer and had been published several times. She excelled in band where she played the clarinet and traveled to Europe with her band in high school. She loved all animals. Mandy was also interested in genealogy. She was a member and 2017 Moderator Elect of Congregational United Church of Christ, where she served on the Christian Education Committee and the Pastoral Committee.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Richard and Adelida Lassle; paternal grandparents, Oliver and Adeline Carlson; and one uncle, Clenten Kayl.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband, Tad Gogolin of Huron; one son, Lincoln Wyatt Gogolin of Huron; one daughter, Tessa Grace Gogolin of Huron; her mother, Jackie Lassle of Aberdeen; her father, Bob Carlson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister, Ashley (Shawn) Feller of Denver, Colorado; one niece, Sophia Feller; two special aunts, Debby Carlson and Cindy Kayl; three uncles, Jeff Lassle, Ken Carlson, Scott Carlson; many cousins; many friends; her parents-in-law, Ron and Kay Gogolin of Huron; and one sister-in-law, Sara Gogolin of Huron.
