Obituary

Mae Tschetter, age 67, of Huron, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018, at the Avera McKennan Hospital at Sioux Falls. Her funeral service was held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 9th, at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery. Her family prefers memorials.
Mae Irene Kant was born to Gene and Verna (Boyd) Kant on November 25, 1950. She graduated from Huron High School in 1969.
In 1982, Mae married Lester T. McKinney. He passed away in 1990.
On July 1, 1994, Mae married Donald "Jake" Tschetter.
Mae worked with her mother at the Colonial Café and the Plains Coffee Shop for many years. She later worked at the Huron Nursing Home. At the time of her death, Mae was employed at the Center for Independence.
She enjoyed playing bingo. She cherished having coffee with her friends, especially her best friend, Vanessa Klich. Mae was an Avon representative for 25 years earning many awards, including the President Club, Honor Society, and the Spirit of Avon Award. Mae bowled for many years and was in the middle of multiple generations of bowlers. She earned many awards from her years of bowling. She was a member of the Moose Lodge. She liked to do crafty things and was known to make Christmas wreaths, Christmas trees out of baby food jars, knitted afghans for family members and designed floral arrangements for family weddings and proms. Mae was a care taker all of her life, tending to her family's needs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Verna Kant; one brother, Edward Kant in 1960; one granddaughter, Amanda Ravenscroft in 1993; and her late husband, Lester T. McKinney in 1990.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband, Jake of Huron; her three daughters, Wendy (Todd) Ravenscroft of Huron, Nikki Sundstrom of Gillette, Wyoming, and Darlena (Patrick) Fischer of West Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Ryan Ravenscroft, Stephanie, Tiffanie and Sheldon Sundstrom, and Caitlyn Fischer (Cory Rux), James Fischer and Nathaniel Fischer; and her grand fur-baby, Mocha.
Mae will also be missed by her siblings, Jean (Russ) North of Huron, Bill Kant (Mary Rudd) of Sioux Falls, Karen King (Brad Schweigert) of Huron, David Kant of Sioux Falls, and Karla Lentz (Dan Keefe) of Colton; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mae's family wishes to thank Vanessa Klich and Becky Kempf for their continuous support during the last six months.
