Marlyn “Lynn” Green, age 101, of Huron, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Peaceful Pines under HRMC Hospice Care.

Marlyn “Lynn” Jane Steinhauer was born February 5, 1925, to Henry “Hank“ and Anna Steinhauer in Madison, Wisconsin.
She attended Madison East High School and Madison Business College. She began her business career working for the Wisconsin State Bureau of Vital Statistics, establishing birth certificates for older citizens making them eligible for war work.
On February 28, 1946, she married Donald G. Green, at Madison, Wisconsin. After Don earned his electrical engineering degree they moved to Oak Park, Illinois.
In 1947, they moved to Huron where Don joined his father in the family business - George C. Green and Sons Lumber Company.
She joined the First United Methodist Church in 1947, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was very active in the women’s group and also served on the board of trustees.
Lynn was active in her children’s lives and served as a leader for Brownies, Cub Scouts and 4-H. Lynn was a P.E.O. sister for 76 years.
For 17 years, Lynn worked for Dr. Paul Hohm as business manager for his several Huron businesses.
In 1980, she became the director of the local YWCA, where, with the help of a strong board of directors and Jan Manolis, she established the first area program addressing the problem of domestic violence. That program later became the Jan Manolis Family Safe Center and is active today. Lynn was named BPW woman of the year and was awarded the YWCA distinguished volunteer award in 1992.
During her weeks, the staff at Peaceful Pines of Huron loved and cared for her as if she was their very own grandma.
Grateful to have shared in her life are her son, Richard (Connie) Green of Huron; her daughter, Nancy Green of Huron; her grandchildren, Cara Jo (Keith) Osier of Huron and Dana (Megan) Green of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; her great-grandson, Davis Osier; and several nieces and nephews.
Gone before her were her parents; her husband, Donald in 2014; and her brother, Bob (Gloria) Steinhauer.
