Obituary

Lou King, age 52, of Huron, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2024.

Her funeral service will be held at a later date.

Lou was born to Paul R. Hill and Alice G. Bogue in Platte, South Dakota on September 6, 1971.  She lived in White Lake, Mitchell, and Winner, South Dakota, before moving to Westminster, Colorado in her middle school years. She came back for her high school years, graduating from Lake Preston in 1990, and beginning work as a CNA soon after. She would have a daughter, Rochelle in 1992, and another, April in 1994. Lou would settle in Huron in 1995.

After working in healthcare for a number of years, Lou would start her career in the food industry, a career that would span twenty years. Eleven of those years she spent working at Burger King in Huron.

When not at work, Lou was involved with the Huron Baptist Church, until she became homebound. However, she still did cards through the church. She was an avid game show and soap opera watcher, and was known for daily inspirational posts - "One kind gesture can make someone's day". She loved to call people, and especially enjoyed spending time with kids, grandkids, and the rest of the family, earning the nickname "Sweet Lou".

Lou was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her children, Rochelle Hill-Harper and April Hill; her grandchildren, Layken Walter, Miracle Hill, Felicity Baker, Mariah Hill, Isabella Baker and Khaidence Metcalf; her step-children, Ashley McWhorter, Tasha Sanow, Todd McWhorter, Jacob Trautman, Waylon King and Chelsy King; her siblings, Lloyd Colombe, Mike (Leota) Colombe, Eileen (Kevin) Luckert, Lisa Christensen, Nora Bradenburger, Vickie Dobson-Brockel, Ida Hill and Mona Hill; her nieces and nephews, Shane Colombe, Jessica Colombe, Jeremiah Grant, Brittany Schultz, Krishna Beens, Minnie May Perez Soto and Jasmine Johnson; along with many other friends and relatives.
