Lorraine Alice Jarman was born on July 31, 1923, in Doland, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Raymond Jens Baggesgard and Emily Irene Board. She grew up and graduated from Doland High School and continued her education with Cosmetology/Beauty School.
Lorraine enjoyed many years owning her own beauty shop where she met and married her husband of 68 years, Wesley P. Jarman. They lived in various communities in South Dakota including Faulkton, Conde, Clark, Chamberlain and Huron, where they had 3 children and raised their family. Together they enjoyed traveling and spending their winters in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for 20 years and Mesa, Arizona.
Lorraine was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Lorraine loved life, her faith, friends from all over the United States, Eastern Star (Grand Officer), Garden Club, flowers, embroidery, baking (the best chocolate chip cookies), cooking (her infamous potato salad), gardening and above all her loving family. She often said she would spend her last penny on a flower!
She is survived by her three children, Ron (Cheri) Jarman of North Carolina, Dianne (Duncan) Cameron of Florida and JoAan (Reed) Hittle of Huron; six grandchildren; Emily (Paul) Kramer, Amanda (Travis) Crowell, J Paul Jarman, Melissa (Jeff) Gwost, Ashley (Patrick) Schinzel and Collin Jarman Hittle; eight great-grandchildren, Adam, Lucas, Justin, Nolan, Conner, Ronnie, Piper and Jaxon; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wesley April, 2014; sister, Donna Felderman; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
My Garden of Prayer
My garden beautifies my yard
and adds fragrance to the air..
But it is also my cathedral
and my quiet place of prayer..
So little do we realize
That "The Glory and The Power"
Of He who made the universe
lies hidden in a flower.
