Obituary

Lewis A. Becker, age 96, of Huron, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at his home with his family by his side. His funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 26th, at the Calvary Baptist Church.Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery.
Lewis A. Becker was born January 26, 1922, to Abraham B. and Helena (Buller) Becker at Chinook, Montana. At a young age the family moved to South Dakota and settled in the Onida area of Sully County. Lewis went to a country school, and later attended high school at Onida and Yale.
In 1942, Lewis worked at Hill Field Airbase in Utah. In 1944, he returned to South Dakota. He met and married Eunice McCoy in 1944. He worked for Armour and Company for 40 years. During this time he also built 15 houses in and around the Huron area.
On October 7, 2007, Lewis married Verna Kuhfeld Schock.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eunice on June 21, 2005, one son, LeRoy Becker; one step-son, Larry Schock; three sisters, Bertha Becker, Ida (Jake) Pullman and Olga (Wesley) Koehn; and six brothers, Elmer, Abraham, Arthur, Walter, Wilbert and Harry.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Verna of Huron; four step-children and their spouses, Janice and Ben Engebrecht of Dolton, Bernadine and Randy Martin of Kopperal, Texas, Tammy and James Claymore of Eureka and William and Aweont Schock of Huron; fourteen step-grandchildren; and fifteen step-great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother and his wife, Jim and Jan Becker of Sun City, Arizona; one sister, Carol Campbell of Sioux Falls; one sister-in-law, Mary Becker of Huron; and several nieces and nephews.
